DAD

My biological father died when I was 9 months old, but this Dad took over and did a great job!  Sure, he knocked me around once in awhile, but I always deserved it and then some.  He worked full time at the Motors and many, many part-time jobs to support us and send us to Catholic school.  Although I hated Catholic school and the strict nuns, he insisted I complete a Catholic high school education; without that education, I never would have gone on to college.  I miss him and think about him daily.

Carl J. Widmar, Sr., 65, died September 13, 1979, at St. Catherine's Hospital after a one-week illness.

He was born September 30, 1913 in Kenosha, the son of the Late Mr. and Mrs. Matt (Mary Hanigmann) Widmar.

He was educated in local Schools and was a lifelong resident of the city.

He married Helen B. Mechowicz in 1934.  She died on October 29, 1949.  On June 23, 1951, he married Louise Bielewicz Hansen, who survives him.

He was employed as a millwright by American Motors Corp.

He was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, United Auto Workers Local 72 Retirees Club and the Ke-Nash-A Club.

Surviving besides his wife are sons, Carl J. Widmar, Jr. and Dennis J. Widmar, and Donald R. Hansen and Thomas H. Hansen, all of Kenosha; four daughters, Mrs. Howard (Marlene) Schmaling and Mrs. Joseph (Jane) Marinelli, both of Kenosha, Mrs. Conrad (Barbara) Gordon, Racine, and Miss Toni Marie Widmar, at home; 18 grandchildren; two brothers, Frank, Sr., Kenosha, and Anthony, Racine; and five sisters, Mrs. Frank (Marie) Schoettler, Mrs. Bert (Rose) Richie, Mrs. Joseph (Esther) Chovan, Mrs. Leonard (Lucille) Maurer and Mrs. John Adeline Cibrario, all of Kenosha.

He was preceded in death by twin daughters and a great-grandson.
